The team here at Checkmark IT is delighted to announce that Stephen Wild, an HPE Master Accredited Solutions Expert (MASE), has joined us as technical director.
Stephen has more than 20 years of experience in the IT industry, having begun his career at a second-hand refurbished computer company, where he assisted with sales and fixing basic Windows issues while also rebuilding and repairing computer equipment for Morgan Industries.
After progressing up the ranks at Morgan Industries, he moved to SCC as an account manager and, later, a technical account manager, where he was able to build and design bespoke solutions for end users.
Following four years in account management roles, he moved into a pre-sales role aligned to the company’s commercial division, focusing on storage - which became his area of specialism - particularly around 3PAR mid-range and high-end 10K and 20K systems.
After ten years with SCC, he joined AVNET Technology/Tech Data as an external pre-sales consultant specialising in HPE storage, where he stayed until joining the Checkmark IT team.
One of the most significant projects Stephen - who currently holds the MASE V3 storage and Nimble Storage design 2018 accreditations - worked on during his career was the Transport for London 10K 3PAR system that was designed to help measure passenger numbers during the London 2012 Olympic Games. During this project, he designed and scoped the array to address the business needs and capacity required by the customer, alongside HPE.
Stephen says: “I decided to join Checkmark because I believe in the vision our Managing Director has on where he would like the company to go, and how he wants to get there: based on a technical understanding of customer needs and requirements, and an ongoing dialogue to make sure we deliver what we have promised.
“I hope we will grow the business to become a Gold or Platinum partner with HPE, and create a company that understands and augments its customers’ aspirations and needs, becoming a trusted advisor and essential IT partner for companies all over the world.”
Peter Therkildsen, founder and MD, says of the appointment: “We are delighted to have Stephen working with us - he is renowned in the industry for being a commercially aware pre-sales consultant who understands both sides of the discussion of technology and business need. We are sure he will help us meet our business goals and continue to provide the very best service to our partners.”
